Ridgeway

A simple extension to a nineteen-fifties semi-detached house in Kent.
Space and light are introduced to the rear of the house which was cramped and awkward to use especially around the kitchen.
A large new opening to the rear opens up the house to views of woodland beyond.

Low House

Designed as a family house situated on the outskirts of a village in Hampshire.
The design seeks to establish a connection with the sloping site and the surrounding landscape whilst providing a suitable living space for a modern family.

Mulberry Cottage

An extension to a Grade II Listed property in Kent.
The formal character of the original building is defined by its unusual roof shape and prominent chimney.
The new spaces draw on the craftsmanship and materials of the original building whilst being sympathetic to its form and heritage and strengthening the connection to the external spaces.

The Oast

Converted into a house during the nineteen-eighties, The Oast is a Listed, family home inside a former agricultural building.
The proposal enlarges the existing building with a simple “lean-to” extension and removes a number of walls that were introduced in the eighties causing the spaces to feel dark and disconnected and the character of the original barn to be lost.

Waterdown Cottage

Located between Frant and Tunbridge Wells, Waterdown Cottage is a large family home. The client was keen to open up the rear of the property which contained the kitchen and was disorganised and dark. By adding a simple volume to the ground floor, the kitchen and dining area were extended creating a cosy, ordered and light space whilst dormer windows to the first floor allowed the bathroom and bedroom to be opened up completely transforming the enjoyment and practicality of the rooms.
